Hi everyone,

I recently obtained a new laptop with windows xp. On my previous laptop I had JAWS installed with eloquence. I was able to use Eloquence with system access to go simply by changing synthasizers in the text-to-speech options section. However, on my new computer, despite having jaws and ELoquence installed, I am unable to change system-access's synthasizer to eloquence. It's listed, but whenever I try it automatically says "failed to change to the requested text to speech engine" (paraphrasing). Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'd really prefer to use SA over JAWS as it reads the screen with the mouse, but DECtalk frankly makes my ears bleed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, that's interesting that you got eloquence to work with SA before. I have both JAWS and SA and eloquence never showed up in my list of available voices until recently when Serotek began offering Eloquence as an add on for $25. I tried to use it and got the same error you did. I decided I wanted it bad enough that I paid the $25 to Serotek so I could use it. It works fine now. SA is so much better with Eloquence. DECtalk blows.
